I heard him speak at a conference a couple of years ago, an excellent presenter. One of his areas of expertise is Cold Water Shock.

Well worth a listen.

I listened to that on my way down to the boat this morning and then thought about what he said about inhaling 3 litres of air or water as you gasp when you fall into cold water when rather more wind over the tide than forecast created choppy Solent conditions. I made sure I held on tight!
