Hi,

I ordered online15m of 10mm nylon multiplait rope from a company called NWRRAGOOD on the 2nd January. The online site worked OK and I got an Order information document emailed to me directly, complete with order number and a transaction ID for the credit card payment.

All OK up to this point.

Since then I haven't reecieved and further communication, I've emailed them with a request for an update, on delivery from both their online form and directly using their email address, with a request for a delivery and read receipt.

No reply and the email hasn't bounced, but I've had no delivery or read receipt form my email (I realise that this not fool proof, because the recipient can turn these function off)

I've checked my credit card and so far no payment has been taken.

I've tried to look at their website, but Chrome reports that the "host is switched off".

I'm not sure what to do next, we're a week or so on and I was expecting some sort of communications from the supplier by now, the company is in China, and I must admit that I didn't check this out when I ordered, perhaps it wasn't a good time to order stuff, I was probably still under the" influence" of the New Year's celebrations.

Any suggestions, apart from becoming TT, would be appreciated?

+1 for contacting the credit card company. I would also ask to cancel the card and issue you a new one, your card details are now loose somewhere in China :ambivalence:

I've found it's often pointless trying to communicate with Chinese firms but goods have always, in my case, turned up within 3 - 5 weeks. Increasing problem with Amazon and Ebay is that, at a glance, it says "in stock" and you have to look closer to see just where the stock is held and delivery time.

On a few occasions the screen has shown one delivery date before placing the order, then another, later date after the order was made. Sneaky. Complaints to Amazon saw the postage costs reimbursed, which is something, I suppose.

Thanks for the replies, I'm inclined to leave it for another week or so, the money hasn't been taken from the credit card, and when I click the link for my order, it is still shown as pending. There's no delivery time stated, as I said in my original post, I Probably wasn't at my brightest on the 2nd January, the value of the order is only £21, so although, living in Aberdeen for many years, I like to keep a close eye on my money, it's no great loss.

Delivery times from China are very variable. I've recently had deliveries within 10 days or so, but just this morning I received a package that was ordered and despatched on the 24th November!

A lot of it depends upon customs - maybe there was a backlog over Christmas. I suspect Irish customs were being deliberately awkward a year or so ago when it was taking up to three months for stuff to arrive.

It is best to check whether it comes from China before ordering.:encouragement:

Have never yet been stiffed by a chinese supplier and the transit times are all over the shop, ranging from an amazing two or three days to several weeks .
The quality of the supplied goods however did tend to be "variable". :)

Given that you have ordered the item from a Chinese company it is a little unreasonable to expect it to arrive within a week, boats don't that go that fast. Anyone on this forum should be aware of that!

Your £21 bargain might turn out to be a bit more expensive. If Customs spot that you are importing goods over £14 in value (from the customs declaration given by the Chinese supplier) you will be liable to VAT which Parcelforce or whoever delivers the parcel will have to collect. The kicker is that Parcelforce charge a service fee on top of the VAT, and that was £8 plus VAT when I paid it some years ago, making your £21 rope cost over £34 in total.

I'd always had excellent service from Amazon, so when a while ago I let myself be suckered into ' Prime ' by not ticking a ' no ' box I let it ride, and have generally found it - along with a few tv programmes & films - about worth it.

Lately though and I don't mean just the Christmas rush I've ordered things ' in stock, Prime says it's just been dispatched ' to find a later revised date of more than a week, this was for UK stuff too not just Chinese, so much more like this and I'll be having a rethink.

Prime doesn't necessarily mean next day but you'll never pay for Prime delivery.
