I have a problem with my Simrod DSE RD68 radio. It is now making frequent but irregular bursts of 4 pips. I first had this shortly after installing it 2 years ago. I contacted Simrad but they were dismissive of it. As it was infrequent, I put it down to being at anchor or mooring and not having an updated/changed GPS input. But this weekend it kept doing it all day as we were under way. The GPS is OK, date and all other data are showing on the RD68. Transmit and receive are also OK and there are no uncleared GMS messages (indeed I haven’t had one all year!) and the distress button tests OK. Just we get these irritating pips all the time!

Has any one any ideas as to what the problem is?

No my one is four pips over what ever else my be on the speaker (louder when a transmission is being received) then its repeated after sometimes any tenth of time between one or two and forty seconds. This went on all day with a working GPS input.
