Here's a useful sailing logbook I have used for the last fifteen years. Print both sides back to back and cut to A5 size. I use mine with a cut-down 2-ring binder. Navigation log on one side, narrative on the reverse.

One advantage of a looseleaf format is you can easily take sheets with you on other boats. I do this when running charters or delivering boats.

I just use an A5 book.
Forecast and tides on the left page, where we are and what we are doing on the right page.
Single handed I don't always manage to note Lat/Long, course / speed every hour, but try to. Turning points are generally noted.
There is some flexibility if we stay put for a front coming through, forecasts can spill onto the right hand page.
