seeing that I will be coming up with many more a question besides the paint issue, I thought it wiser to open a new thread for the process of ordering to completion of my Princess V62-S:

having done quite a bit of aftemarket work on my V56 and having paid for the learning curve I will now be asking the questions here first, as some of the quotes I am receiving so far seem excessive at the least.

any advice on the following would be highly appreciated:

- thinking of switching all lighting from halogen to LED including dimmers. (cockpit, saloon, cabins, lower dinette and galley)
I was quoted the rather silly sum of 4.600 sterling from PYI
I had converted the bulbs on my V56 to G4 LED's at 16 euro a pop and
they are working great

- wanting to add courtesy LED lights all around (transom steps, cockpit, side-decks, bow)

- fit 3 x lumishore CCP-120 to transom with 1 controller (have 2 CCP-120 on my V56 and they are great)

- fit a watermaker (considering HRO) 150-200 litres/h

- upgrade the standard Bose audio setup (upgraded Bose components throughout) with setups in saloon, cockpit, lower dinette and bow) yes, we party every now and then :D

- paint the hull topsides, platform and transom garage area in Alexseal Sahara Gold. (possibly will paint roof section as well)

- install mood lighting to cockpit and upper salon

preferrably, I am looking for a 1 stop shop (UK) that can carry out the above when the boat has left the factory.

any and all advice is highly appreciated.

I will be posting info and pictures as the project is coming to life...

Great project, looking forward to hearing more.

On the LED's, if you're happy with what you've done on the 56, why not do the same again? Personally I don't like dimmed LED's, as they don't go warm yellow colour like dimmed halogens, but that's personal choice.

Have you considered vinyl wrap instead of painting? Looks a good process and lots cheaper by all accounts, and easy to change if you ever want to.

I'd have thought Princess Sales could organise all this work for you, and if you haven't ordered the boat yet they shouldn't add too much for managing it, as they'll be keen to get the sale.

What's a new V62, 6, 7, or 8 hundred £k, probs more? Care to explain why you're planning on getting her 'finished' elsewhere? Don't you trust them to interpret your needs? I'm not having a pop, just curious.

thank you for the input. i am now thinking to just Keep the halogen lights on the dimmer instead of converting to LED.

paint is the better alternative for my Location. we have paint professionals that can repair dings or scratches. we don't have Vinyl outfitters here at the red sea.

princess are willing to do all I ask...just at huge premiums vs other installers. don't ask me why.....

graham, i am getting a finished product. it's just that I have many an additional Option in mind that are not available as per PYI Options list.

having checked some of These Options with them, i received quotes that sound unreasonable to me. hence, I am looking into getting quotes from elsewhere as well.

i am in contact with osmotech and it looks like they will be able to handle all my demands.

the same was done with my current V56. i added many an after-market Feature that was handled by a Company that does a lot of the installations for PYI. being a bit more experienced now, it seems that better deals are to be found for the same Quality installations.

Landau do most of princess work at swanwick . I don't understand why they don't do custom fits at factory as its better to fit all types of gear at build stage rather than strip a new boat apart. They never go back together the same as factory fit.

Prices eye watering I'm not surprised , I think the retro fits from princess are only subbed to landau as they know the marque very well.

I'd shop around for retro quotes in the uk , osmotech are one to consider as well.

We can collect the craft straight from the factory, carry out all of the work, take full responsibility (including a guarantee) and finally deliver the craft complete and tested wherever you specify. If this is of interest then please give me a call on 07860 759415 or send me an e-mail nick@allboatservices.co.uk , best regards, Nick.

the work on my V56 was done by prnautica. some of the work was excellent and other installations were on the lower side of good.

i asked PYI why the Switch from halogen lights throughout to LED would cost 4.200 Sterling. will await their Feedback and explain.

anyone any thoughts on a Company that would do all the lighting work on my boat including the switch to LED and Fitting mood lights, courtesy lights etc ?

i know fairline has an Option of interior and exterior mood lighting on their larger squadrons and on the targa 58 (not available on the newer 62)

the full Setup was about 18-20k as per their 2011 Price list.

i guess it is ES-Solutions lightnet 5. silly expensive.

I had Landau do retro work for me Chris Doran very nice guy and always willing to help.

I have also just had the Princess warranty team on board and they told me that the factory have a dedicated team to retro work now, get them to sharpen their pencil.

Personally as a skipper I would try and limit the number of suppliers working on the boat, have a prime contractor who you can hold responsible. Will save a bun fight in the future when something goes wrong..

i was informed by my dealer about the Retro Team PYI have in place now.
i have received reasonable quotes on some of the Jobs and totally unreasonable ones on others. as said I am on the hunt for a full solution supplier.

most likely will have some items done at the factory as they are more easily handled while the boat is still in build and the other Tasks done after the boat leaves the factory.

the paint quotes one get from the factories are SCARY :D

i remember receiving a Quote from sunseeker years back when i was looking into buying one. i guess sunseeker were making triple the Profit of who they would have had painting the boat....

Have you tried Berthons as the various work they have done on my boat this year has been top quality and not unreasonable price wise. I have seen a number of the repainted Princesses and amazed at the finish.

I'd say that's reassuringly expensive. There's nowt worse than cheap LEDs. i am paying double that to upgrade the already-quite-good LEDs in my squadron 78 (in build) to better ones that I've specced, and I know the supplier and therefore know that Fairline are not hyping the price by adding a big margin: on the contrary they are being very fair on pricing. If you budget £75 per light fitting you soon get to 4 grand on a 62 footer
