Princess 46 Riviera

For what its worth, a Princess salesman once told me that the P46 has one of the best hulls Princess ever produced. I looked at buying one a few years ago; the accomodation is big for a sports cruiser but we were slightly put off by the dated grey birds eye maple interior. The cockpit is also huge, perhaps too huge for typical UK weather especially if you have to struggle with the large cockpit canopy. Engine wise, I would always go for the Cat 3208 versions which have a very good reputation for reliability. I would be a bit wary of the Volvo 72's as these would be 10 - 15 yrs old now so get a good engine survey. I think the P46 was pretty well equipped as standard and should have a big genny and maybe aircon if you're lucky
IMHO, the P46 is a nice big boat for not a lot of money. Is it the Essex Boatyards one you're looking at. Wotsit like?

I njotice that the essex boatyards one is gone now? Did you take the plunge, I had a look when I was down there recently, certainly seemed like a lot of boat for the money

So I just picked up one of these and I am in the process of restoring and updating it to suit my needs. I have the only one of these in the United States. I love this boat and it handles so good compared to the sea rays I have had before. Anyone else out there have one of these? Looking for other Princess 46 owners to see what modifications they have done to theirs to "modernize" her.
