Princess 45 TAMD71A prop coupling/shaft roll pin replacement

When you put the puller on, try some heat on the coupling to try to expand it slightly. I recently bought a induction heater from amazon that has a coil that you can wrap round shafts, might be worth a try for £200, you can always return it to amazon if it doesn't do the trick.
Try not to let your collar move as it may damage the shaft and if it all goes wrong and you have to remove the shaft the least damage the better if it needs to go through cutlass bearings . might be better trying to get a new flange and split the old one with a angle grinder and chisel if you cannot move the flange
 
I have a collar clamped around the shaft and i've hit it a few times with a hammer, didn't shift. I've undone the flange from flexible coupling and slid the shaft back a little, hitting the flange it sounds solid, very solid. I don't want to bash it all around and damage something so i've ordered a 4 ton porta power, will put the ram between the flange and the collar i fitted, hopefully that will shift it.

It's also a possibility that the broken ends of the roll pin a cutting into the flange, will see when (if) i get it off.
To remove my coupling from the shaft i slid the shaft forwards a few inches, held a 24mm socket on the end of the shaft, then slid the shaft back so the socket touched the flex-coupling (or gearbox if there is not one) then replace the four flange bolts with longer ones, or lengths of studding, then tightened the four evenly and the socket pushes the shaft out without having to hit anything.

I did consider that, but it means dismantling the flexible couple, which i'd prefer not to do, but if all else fails i'll make a plate up to bolt across the flange.

I have a powerful mapgas blow torch, that will get some heat into the coupling quickly, if needed. Will see how the hydraulic ram works first.
