I am looking for a new (used) boat and will propably end up with a Princess 388 or 415.
Can some of you from Princess country give me some clues of sailing caracteristics
and seawortiness off theese two boat.
Does the 415 slam more in head seas-fuel consumption etc.
The 415 often comes with 358hp engines. Are these better (maintenance-record)
than the tamd 61s.

Actually the Princess 35 is big enough for me but I have been told that it doesn`t
sail that good. Furthermoore I have never been too happy with fast revd engines.

Don't tell Haydn that the P35 isn't a good sea boat, he'll have a fit! It actually has the reputation as being one of the best designed hulls that Princess have ever made.

<font color=blue>Both the 388 & 415 are exceptionally good hulls for a nice soft ride.

Re: Princess types

Welcome Danish

I think the 415, 35 and 388 are all successors to the 45 and, correct me if I am wrong, in that order.
As Byron says, all are good soft riding safe boats, well built but not as fancy/plush as others.
Obviously, the longer the hull the better the ride but the 415 is the oldest design. If you need the space go for a good older 415 than a newer 388 if not........
We found the inside helm had poor kneerom on the 415 and went for an older 45 and have not regretted it but if yiu fit they are fine boats.
The 35 has a fine reputation but I would suspect a 388 is just as good.
They all seem bow up as most people have added a dingy and weight in the lazarette. Our 45 runs faster with a touch of trim tab down and I would suggest all 4 types do bene fit from tab tweaking so make sure they are present and working.
