Anybody got any suggestions about sourcing or sizing about the propeller nuts and woodruff keys on a 1990 Princess 35 with 200hp engines.
It all looks to be standard umodified kit with no modifications.
Props were removed for transportation and although when reattached got us back to our mooring without falling off really need replacing ASAP.
Probably most important info would be thread on shaft and nut.
Woodruff key size not that critical as already have bit of bar and can cut one to size.
Heres hoping somebody can remember details from previous boat perhaps ?
Cheers. OG

Call Hamble props they probably made them

Thanks Paul will give them a ring. Fred

Have now rung all the interweb sources and they all want the thread before they can supply. ?
Wondering if sterngear is same as similar vintage Princess 330 or Fairline Corniche with 200hp engines ?
Going to see if thread info is somewhere on the web .
Somebody did suggest a 1" BSF thread.

My princess 30ds is on 1.5" shafts and has 1"bsf nuts, it's on volvo tmd41's.
Clements will have them on the shelf.

Thanks for that, almost certainly the same generic stern gear.
My engines are the 41B.
Am going to get the calipers out and confirm the shafts are 1 1/2" before ordering.
A couple of the companies did think they had produced stuff for Princess in the past.

Don't get any of these problems with stern drives :D

This is true.

I never managed to run one long enough for anything to actually wear out.
Something would always break up/fall off/snap/fill with water or implode long before any wear ever had a chance to happen :D

Rang all the above suggestions with not much luck at all.
The shafts are definately 1 1/2 inches so this may progress things.
From memory, the prop nuts which all the companies assure me are custom made by a little old man in cave somewhere, are not so cheap :)Will try Clemants agin.

Ere, hang on a minute. I don't think I can fight this battle on two fronts! ;)

Different time, different problem but T Norris made me a nut for the folding prop on my sailing cruiser.

Along with a new propshaft. All they required was the old shaft and prop for pattern purposes.

Have you got any vernier campers? Measure the OD of the male thread on the shaft and then count the amount of threads per inch. Ideally you should use pitch gauges but we should be able to narrow it down.

Unfortunately the visibilty in the Medway is very limited and trying to hang on to the prop shaft with one hand and adjusting the calipers with the other could be difficult for an old fart like me.
In addition my calipers are electronic and not sure the battery cell will not short out.
Not sure where my googles and flippers are either. :):):) Fred.

Feable excuses, pull your finger our man :D

An extra bit of info that maybe useful is that clements don't do castellated nuts now but supply a tab washer with their
plain nuts that locates in the keyway slot on the prop, I have two in my back room but am hanging onto them as spares.

Nuts on their way with tab washers................Unable to face the hateful task of aligning up the nuts/split pin/ hole in shaft nightmare.
