why are the price of a second hand boat so high.I note that the price of a 6 years old boat is quite the same and sometimes higher than the asking price 3 or 4 years before for the same type of boat.

The cost of the kit on a well equiped boat will be £10K+.
Radar, eberspacher, plotter, tender and outboard, rope cutter, radio, tridata, ais, warps, kedge, windlass,H&C water, shower, holding tank, shore power, charger, fridge, etc., etc.,etc.
So, simple price comparisons are misleading.

All the above responses are ture, but you could make an offer an see what happens?

Just because they are asking loads of money dosn't mean they will get it. It is a buyers market. Only exceptions would be very good boats with engines less than five years old.

There's more to it than just asking price - there's upgrades, kit, general appearance of the boat.

Four years ago we put our boat on the market - Etap 38i 1990. She had recent/new sails/electronics/engine/electrics... asking price 75K

At the same time, there was another 1990 Etap 38i on the market just a few miles down the road - everything still original - asking price 65K.

We sold after 4 months for 69K - the other boat sold 2 years later for 45K.

There's more to it than just year, make and model.
