A friend has finally bought a boat after talking about it for 20 odd years and I am invited out for a sail next weekend.
What should I go with as a present to mark this momentus event? A bottle of course!! I did wonder about overdraft insurance protection /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What do the learned forumites think.

100m of 16mm three strand nylon or a shackle of 3/8" galvanised chain will probably go down well! And he'll remember you every time he uses them.

The best present i ever got for the boat from a mate was a bright yellow proper fishermans Sowester hat. It had a few laughs at the time, thought i would never wear it. But when the heavens open it's the best bit off kit on the boat for staying dry !!!!

Two sugesstions at the cheaper end of the market - Nice cap saying Captain (or god depending on personallity) or a nice sign saying "The answer is NO - now what's the question?"

Or if they are a really good friend, a nice leather cheque book cover with "Pension withdrawal book" on the fornt, what my best mate brought her husband.
