Has anyone from chichester had problems getting more than one sticker for the new entry system? I was told in the office on sunday that only one car per berth is aloud on site now

I didn't ask for a second one when i picked mine up yesterday, I don't particularly need one.

I did try and get a third key fob from them when they introduced those, though, and they refused that request, so it doesn't surprise me.

I had the same conversation with them today. One per boat.

I really cannot see how this change is an "upgrade" unless they are using "upgrade" in the same way as Microsoft - ie a change, not necessarily for the better.

Do people really object to having to open the car window to use the fob at the carpark entrance?

I managed to get two as the other user of my boat is disabled.

They were fine about it but they did say other berth holders have been complaining about lack of parking.

The lack of parking is with the toffs on south side and their big 4 x 4s. We impoverished hoy polloy on northside have no trouble finding spaces for our mopeds.

I don't think they thought this through and I had to get quite worked up to get two, I don't like having to behave in that way.

It seems to me that Premier has rather a lot of levels of management many of whom are out of touch with their customers actual day to day needs. They were all sitting in an office while I was ranting. It becomes 'them and us' though the guys we see day to day are great.

I had better stop...can feel the blood pressure rising...

Bah!

Collected mine last Friday and was given 2 as the boat is in joint ownership. The GM came out of his office to explain that they were restricting the issue to one per boat as a trial but it would be reviewed at a later date once the new system has settled down and they had received enough feedback, either positive or negative.

Thanks for all your replies, Just found the updated regulations on premier chichester website, valid from 1 march 2018.
Your thoughts appreciated.

CAR PARKING
19.1 A valid berthing licence entitles Owners to park one car at the marina when using their boat or on-site services. This entitlement does not guarantee that a space will be available and spaces will be allocated on a fi rst come* first served basis. Additional vehicles can be parked with advanced agreement of the marina manager.
Owners agree that The Company may record and use the vehicle registration number to calculate any relevant parking charge and to enforce these regulations. This includes the right to request the details of a vehicle’s registered keeper from the DVLA.

My first thoughts are that given the lack of space for cars, one boat, one car seems fair and may actually improve parking - especially if it gets rid of some of the long term, semi permanently parked vehicles. However I can see the marina manager being kept fairly busy, answering advanced requests for additional vehicle parking. I wonder how much advance notice will be required - 24 hours or longer? Also, if this extra vehicles are going to be allowed, why not just give everyone two parking stickers?

If the one car only is going to be strictly enforced what exactly are we supposed to do with extra vehicles - park them outside the Boathouse cafe for the entire trip?

Will the stickers be transferable to whichever vehicle you turn up in or are they linked to a particular vehicle?

The stickers are floppy little things that are to be stuck on the windscreen or left loose on the dashboard so that they can be transferred (or lost). This is one part of my beef. If they had been like the fob (which you still need to go to the loo by the way), then it would be easy to put them on a keyring or whatever. Still need two though.

It was suggested that extra cars could park in the visitor car park. This was not thought through either. Said car park is often full at busy times and is also a long way from many of the jetties.

I still wonder if this is a solution to a problem which really does not exist. I am on the south side, and I never had a problem in parking my car in the nearest car park to my boat.

I agree that the flimsy little things are not as practical as the fobs - unless you always have the same car, and can attach it to the windscreen. I don't want to do that, in case I use my wife's car, when I wont be able to enter the carpark.

Seems a significant cost for no benefit - and of course we are ultimately paying for it.

Certainly agree with earlier comment that the staff you meet (in the office, lock-keepers, etc) are always very pleasant and helpful.

Keith, I agree and this from the north side.

I wonder if we will also be paying for the recent outlawing of the additional charge on credit cards...

I am glad that you pointed that out. The media all seem to have celebrated this change as some sort of victory. Perhaps they don't want to save money by paying with a debit card (or perhaps don't know the difference, if the BBC News economics 'experts' are an example of the expertise in the media in financial matters?).

I saw it as a way for companies to charge more for debit card payments.

Another example of unintended consequence of poor legislation?

Collected my sticker today from the office and it works fine, but quite often, I come in friend's cars and the sticker doesn't seem removable or transferable, so presumably, I will have to contact the marina manager beforehand. Seems barmy to me - there was nothing wrong with the old key fob system, so far as I was aware.

Oh dear wombat
Please do not put all in the same boat on the south side - I have a wooden boat and an old audi.

When i asked for a second stickker I was asked - convince me why you need two! huh! I thought i was 5 years old!
