Predator 72 sea trial - with pics

Yes _ meant net salary.

So your real dream is blue water cruising.

I can choose this and the Nordhavn is a boat for it but still feel that I would always want a turn of speed at some points even if its only getting away fast from a coming Hurricane!

Still think that you may need more than a few properties with tenants – mind you depends on what the properties are

The real plan is to have four, plus some other investments which will come to fruition. This is a long term plan, but that would allow us to do it in todays money.

Right now it is all about building the business - I think that will take all my effort for the forseeable future - it doesn;t hurt to have an end game in sight mind.

I think an end game should always be in sight. Even if it has to be modified in the light of events, it is still a target to aim at .... I know all about this because my target and date keeps blinkin moving!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yep, know what you mean about shifting endgames, but sometimes, as a previous poster said, you have to put sensible to one side and have fun! Our boat was a result of that thinking - we'd previously been quite 'sensible' then a couple of things happened. First, swmbo's dad died - a fine gentle and wise man who'd worked hard all his life but ultimately had many regrets as we discovered when we unearthed his diaries. Secondly, two friends of about our age died very suddenly. Those sorts of things make you reasses your priorities and realise there is a balance between being reckless and being too cautious, sometimes you just have to say f$@~ it and have a go.

We do beautiful kitchens................

Go on dont waste it all on boats, i must practice what I preach......why did I buy a boat???? Cos 'We' love it, well said that man,

MMMM See It, Buy It, Luuurve It!!!

Jas. appologies for the blatant advertising plug, but the more we sell the more chance I have of upgrading to a Portafino 53

Yes! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Mark I thought the size of the 67 when handling with two was one of the reasons for selling her? This buggers even bigger :~) Smashing looking boat by the way

[/ QUOTE ]
Thanks Clive. The 67 wasn't too big, it just broke a lot and took an age to get fixed properly. It was very ponderous though compared to the Predator.

More manageable than a Flybridge Clive, I would have thought although I bet that hull is a bugger to keep clean. Poor Mrs Magnum being dangled over the guardrail with a shammy leather in hand /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

[/ QUOTE ]
I agree about being more manageable.

However, at SIBS you said you'd be happy to clean her for me once a week FOC. You've gone back on your word, you bounder you.

Fantastic boat Mark - hope you have lots of fun.

Not talking her down but why do you think the lower guardrail is wire. Surely should be S/S for that quality of product.

[/ QUOTE ]
Well spotted.

The lower guardrail is actually stainless steel wire but plastic-coated. I actually prefer the non-coated stuff which I intend to ask them to fit.

S/s tube would be better, no - possibly smaller gauge than the top rail?

[ QUOTE ]
It would indeed but most of the British manufacturers use tube top and wire bottom I think. I'm OK with that.

I can imagine that's the case up to a certain size/price but you're way above that. Is there a design reason (weight/safety). If not, it must be down to cost and that shouldn't come into it (not for a relatively minor element anyway) on the pred. 72.

Check out the rails on Fair Prospect. The double solid rails make a difference imo. Your call - hope you don't mind the comments.

Don't mind at all.

I agree the bottom tubes do like nicer. Maybe I'll ask them how much it would cost extra. Cheers for pointing it out /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Nothing wrong with your targets but your sights keep misting up. (rose colour) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Pred 72, fantastic. Well done!
I'm very pleased for you, enjoy. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

One strange thing about the thread... One of the ultimate motor cruisers has just been served up in front of us to admire and look what was noticed most?

Garmin GPS, possible wake ride for a 'raggie' and stainless wire guard rails. God, we're sad bunch! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

the problem with SDs and Sunseeker I think that this does not go so well with the Don Shead hull

[/ QUOTE ]Really? Sounds like an excuse - sort of.
Afaik, any hull which is good for high speed can only further benefit from surface transmissions...
I would still be interested in what explanations/justifications the builder gave - if any.
