I also think that tubes look better on the bottom - they are easier to maintain as well,

I think you're all being v.gay/boring. Boat like that should have no guard rails at all (Italian stylee)!!!

to look stylish with no guard rails it needs to have a flush deck
like Itama, Magnum, Baia

with no flush deck the guard rails look awesome, still the Sunseeker looks fabolous with GR very well integrated with the profile
I agree with Magnum single piping with central SS wire looks better then double piping

the problem with SDs and Sunseeker I think that this does not go so well with the Don Shead hull

[/ QUOTE ]Really? Sounds like an excuse - sort of.
Afaik, any hull which is good for high speed can only further benefit from surface transmissions...
I would still be interested in what explanations/justifications the builder gave - if any.

I do agree that it can benefit, but I think the points and distribution forces with SDs are very different to what a boat does with a normal shaft transimission
nowdays with variable geometry hulls this can make a whole lot of difference
with SDs as they told me its better if the V-shape does not have much variation so if you have a Deep V which has has a lot of angle variation from fore to aft it might not be the best choice fitting SDs
the more the hull has a variable geometry the more it usually gives a Dolphin affect
still this can be one of the cases but I am sure if you press Sunseeker to fix SDs they will do them for you or not...
maybe Magnum can tell us better at this stage

That seems to make some sense. Conventional shafts will always have an element of lift due to their angle of installation, which will supplemment the lift fom the hull. SD's operate only in a horizontal plane, therefore the only lift is from the hull. So it seems reasonable that some hulls that work OK with shafts may not work so well with SD's??

Anyway, regardless, its an amazing boat Magnum, congratulations.
