Predator 72 sea trial - with pics

Just around the corner from me. If you need any help when going over to the CIs to fill up with cheap diesel just shout. Don't expect you'll have any problem with volunteers /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hope you get more fun out of her than the Princess.

Remarkably little wake for 33 tons at 40kn. Most of the boat must be out of the water!

I agree, less than our P67. Still, look at this /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I wasn't at the helm at the time and despite raising my concerns, neither the Sunseeker skipper or the raggie seemed concerned.

What range does she have Magnum?

[/ QUOTE ]
She has 3900 litre tanks and at full chat the fuel burn is 654 litres per hour - so in theory that's 254 miles.

But, fuel burn at 1900rpm is around half that at 336 litres per hour and from memory we were still pushing on at 35 knots. That in theory would give 406 miles.

Of course, at displacement speeds she would be much more economical but economy wasn't high on my list of priorities /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I'm sure it's the angle or parallax or something but that looks like a tsunami compared to the rag n' stick. I guess they weren't shaking their fists because they needed both hands to hold on /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Seriously though, it looks fabbo. How many other boats would allow you to get a steady picture of the chartplotter at 42 knots? I also like Garmin gear by the way.

Magnum............'Man, thats a beauty' we had the luxury of a guided tour around her at the show............without a doubt the boat of the show for me.............

You make your own 'Luck', youve clearly made shed loads more than me!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Enjoy, and I'll race yer one day with my little Targa 37!!

The mpg is not bad at all. Works out to about 74 gallon for 36 Nm which is about 0.5 mpg. An SD boat like the Aquastar 65 gets about half that mpg at half the speed. So she obviously has a very efficient planing hull.

Many smaller planing boats get the 0.5mpg at their cruising speeds, so in my bookl you have a very economical boat for its size!!!
Now I bet you never knew that? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Awesome - jeez, I just love big sports cruisers /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Looks fab and goes like the clappers.

I really hope this one works out for you Mark - all the best with her.

Looking at SS flags and fenders being squeezed a bit - bit of a wind blowing.

Please keep us updated - no need for 360 degree video in case SS do a Marlow (only kidding Gludy /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif)

Heres hoping for a lottery win this week!

[/ QUOTE ]
As more than one salesman said to me at SIBs, If he had a pound for every time he heard that phrase he would soon be a millionaire. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Mark I thought the size of the 67 when handling with two was one of the reasons for selling her? This buggers even bigger :~) Smashing looking boat by the way

More manageable than a Flybridge Clive, I would have thought although I bet that hull is a bugger to keep clean. Poor Mrs Magnum being dangled over the guardrail with a shammy leather in hand /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Fantastic boat Mark - hope you have lots of fun.

Not talking her down but why do you think the lower guardrail is wire. Surely should be S/S for that quality of product.

And some how I think the average Lottery win still wouldn't be enough, to buy and RUN the boat!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Stunning boat!

Cheer

I think that might be right.

If you want to live of the interest and maintain the capital then say you invest £1m at 6% = £60,000

Take off tax at 40% = £36,000 left

Take off inflation to maintain the capital at 2.5% leaves tou with £11,000 out of the £1m

Someone earning say £33k per annum net would require £3m invested to replace their wages and retire.

So if you wanted to run a boat with say £100,000 running costs per annum you need to invest about £10m.!!!

I assume you mean net salary? Becasue someone earnig £33k would also need to pay tax.

Of course, the sensible thing to do is invest you money in such a way that the growth is maintianed, and you receive a decent living income. I don't play the lottery, so my chances of winning are pretty slim (though I know SWMBO still puts a line on when the mood takes her, so you never know), but should the unlikely ever happen I wouldn't go out and buy a huge boat. I would spread the money, buy some property and some off shore stuff, and live a modest (ish) existance.

My perfect retirement would be to have the ability to float around the world, a resident of no-where. I reckon $500,000 dollars of 40ft nordhavn and a couple of properties with tennants dotted around the place to keep the wolves from the door would be sufficient. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Jez................

There are 2 types of people in this world............

Thos ewho are sensible..........and those like me who would blow it!! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hell lifes too short for sensible...........For the Predator, hell, i'd blow it!!!
