Potential Uk bureaucracy issues if you sail off for a few years?

If you rent out your house it isn’t your residence and your tenants are well within their rights to either send back mail as not at address or to add you and require you to pay council tax so be careful. The new laws on renting are making it harder to get away with such things.
I think that only applies to a long term rental. Our house is used for short term holiday letting, usually 2-3 day stays. I don't think people who are on holiday count as tenants.
 
It was the council tax that pushed me over the edge into selling my house. Not so much the money as how it was used 😂 oh, that and the charge doubled if I didn’t actually live there 🤷‍♀️
