The world’s gone mad round here. We live in a cul de sac of just nine houses. Six have just had, or are in the process of having block paved driveways, new patios, major internal work, kitchens/bathroom garage door replacements etc. For weeks now, we have had dust from tile cutting, banging, drilling, and of course the obligatory builders radio on Heart FM. Mostly finished now, and looking forward to peace again. Personally, I prefer to spend our money on cars and boats (though finding the latter at present is a nightmare). Someone please let me know if they have a BenJenBav or similar 35/37’ boat they know of coming on the market. Money’s sat in the bank making 0% interest but we can’t find anything to spend it on! Ta!

How many of your neighbours are self employed and received the grants from the government? £10k and up wards is the average.

It was nice to see the government stepping in and supporting the common man in this time of need rather than supporting rich bankers as they did in the past.

As for the OP I have never had an issue with people spending their own money on what they want to and spending it on your property is a very good idea. Far wiser than boats and cars TBH

Financially speaking an awful lot of people have done very well out of the pandemic.

I really can’t complain - Covid resulted in a lot of highly skilled I.T. people leaving the UK and Ireland, and for once, employees seem to have the upper hand.
I don‘t think it will last, but I’m making hay whilst the Sun is out.
