Most of those people are probably new to boating and are learning by doing - I would rather go round again (and again ... and .... ) if I wasnt sure about coming in safely not to damage my boat or indeed anyone elses.
I always offer to grab a rope from on shore (if they want me too) and always let the boat owner tell me if he wants it pulled in or let out. Its his boat after all.
They dont know if I'm an international yatchman or just a guy walking by that offered to grab the rope.
So don't WATCH - get in there and GIVE a hand - you never know you may need one yourself one day.....

Damn! What a pity that they spoiled the afternoon. Next time, try being more "helpfule" and immediately dump all their lines in the water as close as possible to the propellors.
I got shafted once by a 'helpful' passerby who lifted off the warp I was springing off from and chucked it aboard as he thought I'd forgotten about it! Led to an interesting couple of minutes as I was in between two rafts at the time!
Thats why I always ask if they need my help if they say No then fine. But I often stay to watch - err I mean help if called upon. i would have hated to think that watching people c*ck it up is a Sunday afternoon sport /forums/images/icons/wink.gif.
With the speed that I'm learning I'm gratefull for every bit of help. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
Mind you I might leave my engine as it is - 7 knts max speed may not be a bad idea /forums/images/icons/crazy.gif
