A small one, and old. Designed and built by me in 1974 ish for sailing on boating ponds. Shoal draft, designed to give a good hull shape when heeled, double diagonal balsa wood. Faux teak decks added in 1978, retired soon after! Some pleasing echos of modern design, apart from the keel!
This is Maudorces a 1925 44ft James Silver Gentleman's Motor Yacht that I have spent many summers cruising to Cowes and the South Coast.
It was rebuilt by Peter Wilson a local boatbuilder to Aldeburgh, Suffolk.
It is not my boat but an old friend.
Jarrow Lily. Hors de combat at the mo, injector pump, injectors and a siezed jib furler top swivel. Should be sorted soon though! Second pic is a library shot. I cant find the one of her whizzing down the Western Solent. First pic is where we turned round to head home during last seasons cruise, the pontoon in Londonderry.
Thank you.
She was designed as an IOR One-Ton racer.
She's no longer competitive these days as she needs at least 10kts of apparent wind to really get moving.
But she's easy on the eyes and brings me a lot of pleasure.
