Portsmouth marina options

Re: Fixing Shamrock Quay = Fixing The NHS

I am sorry if you felt personally attacked, I was questioning the value for money that MDL provide at Shamrock Quay. Given that this marina is more distant than most, MDL should make double the effort to turn it into a first class location.

I am not instinctively anti MDL and I find Port Hamble and Mercury examples of well looked after marinas but I can only reiterate than when I visited last year the berthing rate was around the highest I have ever paid and yet the place seemed shabby.

There must be positive attributes about Shamrock Quay that I am missing because yachtsmen are generally smart self-sufficient people who can make informed decisions.

Re: Fixing Shamrock Quay = Fixing The NHS

Pathetic email from someone who obviously does not have the first clue about MDL or its' fine people. Shame on you. What is your angle?
Satisfaction ratings for SQ are extremely high.

Southsea .... 5 mins to Solent

Sparkes .... 10 mins to Solent

Northney .... 40 mins to Solent

Plus plenty of deep water swinging moorings in all harbours - Langstone / Chichester / Portsmouth etc.

try : http://www.conservancy.co.uk/ = Chichester Harbour board web-site with details of all facilities in Ch. Hbr for example.

Oh dear where should I start, did you write that after a few beers?

Err, my comments here on Scuttlebutt are "postings", not emails!

> MDL or its' fine people

The front line staff are indeed conscientious. I am not an habitual MDL basher but I was making specific criticisms of Shamrock Quay, both its poor state of repair and questionable value for money.

It is a shame you did not stick to point rather than using school playground language.

Under your management MDL commissioned a posh new shower block at Shamrock Quay but neglected to ensure the shower dressing area had gradient on the floor. The humblest Dutch marina gets this type of detail right for 30% of the berthing revenue.

Just an ordinary yachtsman who is land-locked 5 days a week with absolutely no connection to the yachting industry.
