Popped in to get some fuel on R Hamble today.
It appears you have to book in before you get to the pontoon.

Ah, sorry, that was I was told yesterday one of the bosuns concerned, I'll let him know.PS: I just called them. You don't have to be a berth-holder, just call in the morning or whenever to be allocated a half-hour slot - so no more than two boats moored on the pontoon at any one time. Busier obviously on weekends than during the week.
That is completely and utterly mad. People can drive into any petrol station anywhere in the country to fill up without booking! Same for queuing up for the supermarket without booking or being a shareholder, for going into Sports Direct for a pair of trainers, etc!
What is wrong now with people and backside-covering companies?
Got the total Covid-19 figures for my town earlier this week (sent by local council): 20 deaths from a population of 20,000 (which equals 0.1% in a not affluent place and with a very high proportion of elderly people). I have little doubt that these were overwhelmingly old and/or/plus already ill and/or/plus deeply unhealthy victims.
Why is the rest of life, economic activity and mental health all being killed?
You need to fit torpedoes!I quite like the booking system, it saves hanging about holding position in the river only to have someone cut in front of you when a space comes free.
