Port Ellen, islay, can you leave a boat there?

Thx guys, really helpful. Spoke to the harbour assogciation, more than happy to accomodate a wee boat like mine for a while on the inner pontoons. So ballycastle or rathlin tomorrow then islay, very happy to eventually have her in the western isles! Lot later than expected, but still plenty play time left to explore.

Bit more pedantry, but it is never too late for geography lessons; --- when you get out to Barra you will have reached The Western Isles, Islay is in the Inner Hebrides and does not feel that different from the rest of Argyll, you will see the difference when you get out there, not just landscape but cultural, this is a good time to go out west, the fascinating differences in lifestyle and culture are still obvious but probably not for much longer.

The two moorings at Lagavulin are the distilleries BUT they are not maintained and they advise against using except at your own risk. We were there last summer but decided not to stay over night as it was a windy forecast. Great dogleg entrance though!!
