Port Edgar Problems

Then again the Thames is a bit of an armpit, and while not a 'capital' ( except maybe to some RN ) there are idiotic plans to basically fill in Port Solent Marina, Portsmouth, to build yet more houses.

Despite the jokes, PS is actually a very good place to visit now & again, plenty going on, cinema, places to eat and drink with relatively low chance of being mugged or even looked at sideways, I think it has a good atmosphere - which it sure won't as a slightly expensive housing estate if the property boom returns...

I realise what I describe above will make many Scots hold up their hands in horror, but believe me such a place is a boon if stuck in grot weather with girlfriend, kids etc; of course if it was just me I'd be beating into a F8 at night off Alderney...

It's not just the capital. Glasgow has spent decades being ashamed of the river. Dammit, they filled in a perfectly good dock just a couple of years ago. The proposal for the canting basin is just a housing development with a few token pontoons.

Don't get me started; between the council building non-opening bridges with barely enough airdraft for a rowing boat and Peel building rabbit hutches on the site of a working boatyard, it's a wonder anyone bothers. Is that rogue still running the yard at Rothesay dock? He's hardly a good advert either.
