UKHO Permanent/Temporary/Preliminary Notices
1. Admiralty Charts to be published 18 December 2025: New Editions of ADMIRALTY Small Craft Charts
SCC 5606.2 Southern Thames Estuary. 1:100,000
SCC 5607.2 Foulness Point to Landguard Point. 1:100,000
2. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - A cluster of 9 reductions of depth in the Holm Approaches to Great Yarmouth. Very uneven bottom but unlikely to hinder leisure craft from those depths. The image includes one additional sounding from NtM 609 earlier this year.
3. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - One reduction of depth, centre in the Yantlet Channel of Sea Reach, River Thames, just west of the Sea Reach pair of No 7 buoys. Part of the constant monitoring of depths in the Yantlet Channel this is unlikely to hinder leisure craft.
4. ENGLAND - East Coast - Lights. - A total of 22 lights deleted in the River Thames twixt Custom House (just west of Tower Bridge) and the Woolwich Ferry. In order:
1 light at Custom House
2 at the pontoon west of St Katherine Dock entrance
4 at Chambers Wharf, Upper Pool
2 at Greenwich Rach pondoon
1 at Bethels Wharf, Blackwall Reach
2 at the pylon in Bugsby Reach (London Cable Car)
3 at Greenwich yacht club jetty
2 at pontoon at Charlton Wharf, Woolwich Reach
1 at pontoon at Barrier Garden Pier, and
4 (2 north, 2 south) at the Woolwich Ferry Jetties.
5. ENGLAND - East Coast - Depths. - Two reduction of depth, one at the Long Sand Head two-way route, the other just NE of the Trinity SCB marking the start of the Black Deep DW channel. Obviously a continuing monitoring area for the large ships, unlikely to hinder leisure craft. The image also includes depths reported by NtMs 3310, 3706(P) and 4540(P).

1. River Thames - Sea Reach - OIKOS Jetty No.1: Diving Operations - commencing on Monday 24th November 2025, and for a period of six days, diving operations will take place at OIKOS No. 1 berth on Canvey Island as shown on the chartlet: Notices to Mariners
Crane Barge ‘HAVEN SEAFORTH’ and Workboat ‘STANLEY C’ will be in attendance and will be displaying the signals while diving is taking place.
By day, International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee (RY)’, ‘Alpha (A)’ and a red flag near the diver’s point of entry into the water.
By night, illuminated rigid replicas of the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee (RY)’ and ‘Alpha (A)’.
Requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedure set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘Speed Reductions’. Further information will be broadcast by London VTS on VHF 68.
2. Harwich Haven - Temporary Relocation of Buoys – Update 1 - between 18 November 2025 and 20 November 2025 the following buoys will be relocated to their assigned / charted positions:
Shotley Spit 51o 57.214’N / 001o 17.660’E 251o x 50m
College 51o 57.532’N / 001o 17.297’E 230o x 30m
Fort 51o 56.206’N / 001o 18.899’E 090o x 30m
North Shelf 51o 56.469’N / 001o 18.462’E 263o x 30m
Additionally, on or around 20 - 21 November 2025 the College Buoy will be temporary off station for essential maintenance. Navigational safety information updates will be broadcast by Harwich VTS (VHF 71) at regular intervals when the buoy is off station.
3. Sunk Area - Deployment of New Buoy – W1 Waverider - a new ‘W1 Waverider’ buoy will be deployed 100m NW of the Sunk W1 buoy in the week commencing 24 November 2025, weather conditions permitting. Location Position - 51o 52.626’ N 001o 41.036’ E (WGS84 datum) Description - A Datawell wave rider buoy - 90cm spherical yellow buoy with a 2m fiberglass antenna with LED light. Flash sequence is 5 yellow flashes every 20 seconds. See image on the above quoted page
4. PORT OF GREAT YARMOUTH Haven Bridge Full Closure - Haven Bridge will be non-operational from 01st December 2025 through until the 12th December 2025. Norfolk County Council are required to carry out essential maintenance and system upgrades. The scheduled closer will be in place 24/7 throughout the dates above to both marine and roadside vehicle traffic. 5. Ipswich Lock dive inspection - between Monday 15th and Wednesday 17th December 0700-1700, the Ipswich Lock will be closed to all traffic. This closure is to facilitate underwater surveys of the Lock. These inspections form part of the annual inspection regime. The Lock will be open if Freeflow is achieved within these hours. Mariners requiring more information should do so by contacting ONS on VHF CH68.
