UKHO Permanent/Temporary/Preliminary Notices:
1. FRANCE - North Coast - Depths. - Three reductions of depth, one close north of the4 Ruytingen SW cardinal buoy and two adjacent to the Calai Approach west cardinal buoy. Still ample depth for leisure craft.
2. ENGLAND - East Coast - Superbuoy. Automatic Identification System. - Deletion of the superbuoy and associated lights and AIS east of the Outer Gabbard Wind Farm.
3. ENGLAND - East Coast - NM Block. - New block displaying the unlit ship’s moorings upstream of the Royal Engineers’ Jetty in Upnor Reach, River Medway.

1. River Thames - Sea Reach - Fobbing Creek: Fobbing Barrier Works - works on the Fobbing flood defence barrier, are expected to continue as described herein. The general location of these works is indicated by the red markings on the chartlet. The Fobbing flood defence barrier consists of 4 moveable gates, each 9m wide. These works will be undertaken on all the 4 gates, but only working on 1 gate at a time. Whenever a Gate is undergoing works, that Gate will be lowered into the defence position, marked with yellow & black tape and illuminated at night. The barrier structure fixed warning beacons may also operate. During these Works, the Fobbing Barrier remains open to navigation via the remaining Gate spans. Mariners are advised to proceed with caution at a safe speed, keeping clear of the lowered gate and keeping a sharp lookout for other craft and for workers and equipment involved in these works and being aware of the available depth of water taking into consideration the height of tide. Personnel are expected to work 0700–1800, Monday to Friday only and these works are planned to be completed no later than 1st May 2026. 2. River Thames - Lower Pool - Upper Pool - Cherry Garden Pier: Diving Operations - commencing on 3rd February 2026 for a period of 4 days, diving operations will be taking place beneath and on the inside face of Cherry Garden Pier as indicated by a red box in the chartlet. The ‘THAMES EXPLORER’ will be involved in the diving operations and will display the following International Code Flags:
By day, International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee (RY)’, ‘Alpha (A)’ and a red flag near the diver’s point of entry into the water.
By night, illuminated rigid replicas of the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee (RY)’ and ‘Alpha (A)’.
Requirements to proceed with caution or at slow speed will be made in accordance with the procedure set out in the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘Speed Reductions’, with the International Code Flags ‘Romeo Yankee’ displayed, which are illustrated above: Further information will be broadcast by London VTS on VHF 14.
3. River Thames - Kings Reach - King Edward Memorial Park: Fender Replacement Works - on or around 9th February 2026, contractors working on behalf of Tideway Tunnel will be carrying out fender replacement and repair works at the King Edward Memorial Park site. Works will involve the use of a spudded barge and crane as well as divers and will continue for approximately 3 weeks. The chartlet shows the location of the works on the river (in red): During these works the spudded GPS 601 barge will be located at the front of the site and lifting works will be carried out using cranes mounted on the barge and landside. Tugs GRS ENDURANCE, ESSEX, HANS and SUFFOLK will be used to manoeuvre the barge. All vessels involved in the works will maintain a listening watch on VHF channel 14. Requests for a Speed Reduction or “Proceed at slow speed” will be made by London VTS on VHF Ch.14, in
accordance with the Port of London Authority’s Port Information Guide, under ‘Speed Reductions’, and international code flags ‘Romeo Yankee (RY)’ will be displayed accordingly. In addition, when diving is taking place, contractors engaged in diving operations will display tInternational Code Flags as in 2 above.
4. Harwich Haven - Survey and Dredging Operations - are taking place as follows:

5. Rivers Stour, Orwell and outside the harbour - Temporary Deployment of Scientific Equipment – Update 1 - scientific equipment marked by lit yellow special mark buoys has been temporarily deployed in the following locations: (Image)

The equipment / buoys are expected to remain in position for around 30 days, until approximately 26 - 27 February 2026. A further Notice to Mariners will be issued when the equipment and marker buoys are recovered.

Surveyed Depths – Mistley Quay and approaches - the latest hydrographic surveys showing depths at Mistley Quay and approaches (upper River Stour) which are published as follows: Charts & Surveys - Harwich Haven Authority. The controlling depth for deep draught vessels navigating within this area should currently be taken as 0.7m below chart datum, plus height of tide. Contact Harwich VTS or Haven Pilots for further information regarding tidal windows.
