PORT DINORWIC- Half amillion investement

£250.00/metre........

I pay £259/metre with showers, restaurant, bar, electricity, all states of tide access, staff that check the boats twice a day, great pontoons, shop etc etc.

PD has a long way to go for £9/metre..... That said I do hope the new owner is successful with this venture, we had some great times at PD until it went down hill. It's a great place with lots of potential, time will tell.

Tom

But how much would that equate to with the additional fuel charges and weekly ferry costs factored in?

Personally I'm not bothered about the showers, we use the boat, restaurant? We have a good pub. Electricity is £60 per quarter at the moment although we are supposed to be going on meters so might be even cheaper. Access all states of tides, fair enough, you can't change the geographical location. Staff check our boats, maybe not twice a day. We don't have pontoons up the dock, we're on the wall. Shop!! Hell no thanks..............

As you know, the main thing about PD is it's location enabling boating in pretty much all weathers, always somewhere to go. Time will tell if the new regime will change things for the better or worse, up to yet it has all been for the better, if it turns for the worse I foresee many PD berth holders looking for pastures new, us included.

Give the guy time fellas he's only owned it 5 minutes.

See you at the weekend Thomas, don't come scruffy, smart casual is the code at PD nowadays ;)

travel isn't factored in, value for money is and PD dosent compare to PV

Personally I'm not bothered about the showers, we use the boat, you shouldn't be discharging into the dock restaurant. oh yeh forgot microwave to death We have a good pub. The next village has, last I was told Sophia had closed shop Electricity is £60 per quarter at the moment although we are supposed to be going on meters so might be even cheaper.Fat chance of it being cheaper, you'll probably be colder Access all states of tides, fair enough, you can't change the geographical location. Staff check our boats, maybe not twice a day. or ever, and then they just look at it, no attempt to protect it from damage We don't have pontoons up the dock,no just dirt and leaves we're on the wall. Shop!! Hell no thanks..............everybody needs a shop that's not a mile away

As you know, the main thing about PD is it's location enabling boating in pretty much all weathers, always somewhere to go. yep forgot about that... All 18 miles of it in all weathers. Time will tell if the new regime will change things for the better or worse, up to yet it has all been for the better, if it turns for the worse I foresee many PD berth holders looking for pastures new, us included.

I really hope he turns it around, as I said before we had some great times there but, it can't compare in anyway to where we are now. The cruising up in the Clyde is far better..... Oh forgot I shouldn't say that?..

Give the guy time fellas he's only owned it 5 minutes.

So what are you wearing now and what about that style icon James.

Tom.

Ps. £60 a quarter, that's another 240/annum on top of your, £250/metre...... VFM.???

It's factored into my annual costs, if my boat was at PV we wouldn't be able to go as often so location is key for us. PD is reasonable compared to other marinas in the area

No-one I know discharges waste water into an holding tankrestaurant. oh yeh forgot microwave to death We have a good pub. The next village has, last I was told Sophia had closed shop Yes, Sophia closed up, too expensive for us anyway, Garrdfon is in Y Felinhelli, same village as PDElectricity is £60 per quarter at the moment although we are supposed to be going on meters so might be even cheaper.Fat chance of it being cheaper, you'll probably be colder Time will tell on that one Access all states of tides, fair enough, you can't change the geographical location. If you have trees, there's going to be leavesShop!! Hell no thanks..............everybody needs a shop that's not a mile away Nah, we bring it with us, if an emergency crops up the shop is only up the vlillage anyway

At the end of the day it's just somewhere to park your boat, PD does it for us, but we're all different!

Most of us are sporting chinos and blazers nowadays, although some of us are still going for the sweatshirt and jeans look, set of with a dab of anti-foul here and there

Hmm whilst we are talking costs...

Price per metre £250 x 11.5 = 2875
Con Harbour Trust £17.22+vat/mtr = 235.60
Electricity £60/quarter = 240

Total cost =3350.60 divided by length of boat 11.5

Real cost of mooring = £291.35 per mtr.

Oh that looks much better now.......

;)

Tom

PS see you Saturday all being well and make sure you filled the Fun box.

Funbox is empty, can't afford restocking now you've pointed out the true cost of my boating :(

Ohh, stuff, that's me & Kwaka out of the club then, Smart Casual? More like Scruffy Casual, or even tramp fancy dress.

Is there a plan to get rid of scruffy PDiddyites then?

I think a hanging locker is required and some clothes to fit it!

Howd on a minute, I accept that I am a scruffy git on the boat (can't afford to ruin good clothes) but HANGING seems a bit OTT, and anyway it should be from the yard arm NOT in a locker!

I was really thinking about them for meself sir.(although you and kwackers could probably do a remake of last of the summer wine.....:p

our specification for a boat upgrade has to now include a hanging locker, a mirror, shelves, all of which are sadly lacking in our little boat.

What next
Hot water,
Heating
Shower,
Fridge
TV

Its going to be more like a caravanning on sea than camping on sea.

where is little ship moored

As far away as possible so he doesnt get his fun box emptied by us lot!

I think LS is somewhere in a shed near to where the natives wear skirts with no tighty whities underneath and talk in a strange dialect.

Too far to investigate anyhow!

carrying that lot around will make you as slow as the rest of us!

In the post today.

"In order to provide an improved service we aim to man the dock seven days a week. In addition to Dave,Larry and Andy, John Fletcher has joined us from Porth Daniel.

The dock will be manned between approximately 6am and 10 pm during the week, and between 8 am and 4pm weekends. Outside of these times, the dock gates will be covered for TWO hours either side of high tide"

So no real change there then.

so we are restricted a further hour either side of high tide outside 'office hours'. is that just winter or summer also? (not got the letter yet)

Thats all there is in the letter Roy...

I personally have no problem as I cant remember pushing in or out many times beyond those hours. I think the only time I pushed out much earlier we ended up having to draw only half a metre to get over the mud.

I can live with it and if one of our possible upgrades happens we will have to take care with a fixed draft of 7 foot!

2 hours before is fine for most turns right might be nicer to leave a little earlier than this if you want to get to Conway before the tide turns against you.

2 hours after is fine for most turns left. (depends if you want a bit of rough over the bar in southerly wind)

Returning any earlier use outer dock? or waiting pontoons would be nice

But all my passage planning is at 5.5 knots!
