Yesterday arrived at Port di Roma. Strange entrance two horseshoes connected to sea wall.

Reasonable swell in entrance so accelerate to maintain stability with following sea.... Hold on that's the beach as you get through... Astern both engines before doing a sharp left..

Would not like to try it with breaking waves as not deep....

Good fun with boss on board though, crews eyes were out on stalks when they heard the C32s roar into life....... Bless them oh for green crew....

Yup, that marina entrance is indeed notorious.
Glad to hear that you eventually made it safely, 'cause I don't think it would have been much of a consolation to understand that other boats went beached before... :D
Njoy Rome!

We had a whole season there a decade back. Apparently it was based on the original Roman design and the waves should bounce off the walls of the 'circle' and cancel each other out. Didn't work for me either.
While you're there visit the Roman remains at Ostia. I though they were more impressive than Pompeii although it was the mosquitoes that drove the Romans out.
