Yes the irony of the rich not paying and getting to play on all the toys whilst the poor pay to get in and watch them!
That is life and one of the reasons the rich are hated

Except the rich are paying. They buy the boats that are on display. Buying an entry ticket wouldn't even cover a fender let alone the actual boat it's self. It could be argued that people are buying a ticket to a freak show with side stalls selling refreshments, home wares, clothing, holidays and such like.
Don't forget exhibitors pay to be there, they don't get a cut of the gate money. If no boats are sold the show folds.....

That's nowhere near as ironic as trying to turn the argument upside down, arguing that actually... "the rich fund the “poor s “ day out entertainment".Can I just say that I was not trying to start the socialist revolution, just agreeing with the irony that the poor pay to get less than the rich get for free.
Dare I suggest that 'hate' = 'envy' in a differnt guise?

PF, if you wanted to sound condescending enough to outshadow the notorious statement "We will often give a cap or something instead", that's a good attempt indeed! :encouragement:
Makes me wonder if you could find a way to justify also the fact that the larger the boats, the less VAT is normally paid by the buyers.
Or better said, none rather than less, in most cases.![]()
So, rich people, please keep buying new so that I have something to buy used many years later.![]()
Actually yours was more a viewpoint than a factual observation, and as such it's bound to be as correct as any viewpoint can be.My statement i believe is factually correct
So the definition of ‘we plebs’ is one who buys a SD92 but only if it’s a good priceAgree 100%. Without rich people buying new boats and willing to take massive depreciation hits on them, there wouldnt be more sensibly priced used boats on the market for we plebs to buy. And the more rich people there are out there willing to do this, the more secondhand boats there are on the used market which means that secondhand boat prices will be lower
So rich people, please please keep spending your cash on new boats. Speaking personally if one of you rich people could buy a San Lorenzo SD92 and then try to sell it in the next global recession, that would be great![]()
You will recall from a recent thread (if it’s still there) that I still don’t feel paying for a ticket guarantees the right to go wandering round boats. People exhibiting want to distinguish buyers from tourists, how they go about that is their business. Yesterday was easier because it was quieter. The weekend will be different.
