Can any member advise if it is possible to reserve a visitors berth ahead of physically arriving at the Haven?

Thanks.

Thanks Vic, but the website does not ask the question I am asking. Hence the query being aimed at members.

From the YC website

  1. We extend a warm welcome to visitors from other recognised yacht clubs. Please note the following :
    1. All visiting yachts must seek prior approval before entering the yacht haven by calling "PIKE" on Channel M or 80 VHF.
    2. Visitors will be allocated a vacant members berth or mooring, if one is available, or asked to go alongside the waiting pontoon. All visitors must report to the Haven Office or the Main Office located inside the front entrance to the clubhouse after berthing.
    3. All yachts entering the haven must be insured against third party claims for a minimum £2,000,000.
    4. The limited car parking is strictly reserved for members only, visiting yachts vehicles must be parked outside the Club’s premises. (A large PHC car park is situated a short distance from the Club). The committee reserve the right to wheel clamp any unauthorised vehicle found on club premises, for which a cash release fee based on £20.00 per day, or part of a day, is payable.
    5. All visitors wishing to make use of the bar and catering facilities must be signed in to the visitors book kept on the ground floor adjacent to the main office, (normal licencing regulations apply).
Or did you mean book a place in advance?

I've visited a few times and from what I've seen it would be difficult for them to reserve berths in advance. It all depends on which ones are free on the day. I believe their berthing masters are ordinary club members taking it in turns to do a duty day. But I have always found them to be helpfull and accomodating as long as you remember that you are dealing with a volunteer and he probably has a day's racing to organise as well as finding you a berth.

PYC's office is manned during working hours and I suggest you give them a phone call (01202 672687). I've found the office team to be really helpful and friendly. A couple of minor gotchas to be aware of - they don't like oilskins or mobile phones in the bar area.
