Poole Harbour anchorages in N and E wind

Following on from Query about Mupe Bay, if N and E wind renders Studland unwise overnight as a passage anchorage, would South Deep give shelter in these conditions?

How about the other end of Mupe bay, Worbarrow bay? I have anchored there in a gusty North easterly, again fabulous spot for the intrepid, as is Chapmans pool next to St Albans head.
Holding is usually good at South Deep, however A look at chart indicates a bit of a fetch with a north easterly, however no swell and genrally very sheltered in most wind directions.

I know Poole Harbour reasonably well; in that situation if South Deep was untenable - which I think would take a pretty stiff wind - I'd bugger off to the river Frome if tide and keel allowed.

The only shelter from eat is west side of Brownsea at Pottery Pier, but not so good with any north. However this week the forecast shows no northerly, just east until Wednesday and then going south, then west as the depression moves in. If you do try Pottery pier, go past the pier to the south to get the best shelter from the island. Alternatively pay a little bit and have a convivial evening in Poole Yacht Club, just past the ferry terminal. Very sheltered from all directions and excellent facilities.

Depending on keel type, you could try it and if not carry on to Arne, or again depending on depth turn right just before South Deep into Blood Alley.
