When completing My DSC, VHF thinghy a couple of years ago, the Examiner guy asked us all, to spell our Village/Town ferneticallie.

Yes, I have seen some of those place names when I was hitch hiking with my then girlfriend, early seventies. Stupid me, it took me a while to realise that 'Sir Brecon' or 'Sir Monmouth', was not the name of the land owner! One place name that I do remember was 'StepAside'. I thought that was neat.
A sailing friend of mine was asked, by the CG to spell the name of his boat, 'Shadowfax'
He was alright upto, and including 'Whisky' then his mind went a complet blank, so after stuttering over the letter 'F' for a few seconds, CG replied 'OK I think I know the rest' /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
