Polishing

I started with washing the boat with Blue Diamond caravan and boat wash using a soft mitt and soft brush.

Next was to use 3M Fibreglass Cleaner and wax. Hand applied and then worked with a medium pad on an orbital sander on a low speed. I use a spray water bottle to ensure the pad doesn't dry out and I clean the pad after ever couple of meters of hull to remove the compound that builds up.

Next step was to use Mer car/boat polish. Again hand applied and then buffed off using my polishing machine. This time a soft pad.

Last was wax. Hand applied using micofibre cloths and hand polished off with microfibre cloths. These I keep clean as I go using warm soapy water and then rinsed off in warm fresh water.

Hope this helps. This is my 5th year of ownership and this is the best result I have had so far. I gained some tips from youtube videos and from reading 'The insider's guide to boat cleaning and detailing' by Natalie Sears.

Now this will bring out the sucking of teeth sound - but it was bottle of wax that came with my polishing machine that I bought off ebay. I will see if I can get any more info. I thought I would see how it went and it worked out fine. Probably won't last, but he harsh UV environment of Scotland won't be a big issue I think...

Here is a link to the machine I bought and the wax it comes with :http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PROFESSIO...ssories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item3cd063767a
