Hi,

I've been lurking for a couple of months trying to absorb as much info as possible and now feel its time to join in and ask the 'silly new person questions'

As most have done I've drooled over yachts for years whilst walking along marinas on holiday an now have decided with the better half to do something about it.

The plan is 2015 to put the career on hold, buy a nice yacht (£35-40k ish really like Moody) and spend 12 (or more ;-) ) months exploring the Greek islands, so I've got a lot to sort out in a short period of time- I've done my comp crew and I'm booked on DS in April.

What I want to do is buy a boat to practice on between now and then, I've got a mooring 5 miles away so that's fine an I reckon about £3-4k to get a small (20-22ft) sailing yacht. I'll need to have a few comforts like separate cabin, toilet, cooking facilities for long weekends withe the better half and be good for when my mooring dries out.

Can anyone give me some pointers for types I should look for that good for costal waters and any that I maybe should avoid. I like the look of Leisure 20/ 22 so any pointers on that would be great.

Also can anyone recommend any companies who rent/ hire trailers as I think I'm probably going to buy further south with there being more choice and I don't really want to spend a load of £££'s to move it (I have jeep gc so no issues towing) I live in the Liverpool area.

Thanks in advance

TDOD
