I was on a walking holiday (girlfirend not got full waterwings yet) in Scotland - I was on the Isle of Skye on Tuesday 17 September when I walked into this lovely little bay on the Point of Sleat...rocky outcrops...clear water...white sand beach...fantastic!!!.
It was lunchtime and throuhout the morning I had seen a motorsailor cruising up the Sound of Sleat - I think it had its mainsail up - then on motor only. As I entered the bay (from the land) I took a series of photos with my digital camera. The motor sailor (it looked like a Nauticat - furling main as well) had just anchored in the bay. The weather was cloudey, but the sun was out so the photos when I looked at them later camer out really well. Then chap on the boat came to shore in a grey Zodiac (rowed) to take his own pictures - by this time the sun had gone in and my girlfriend and I were lunching on the beach... a poor photo by anyone's standards!!!
The photo I took of this chap's boat looks great (not showing off... just the perfect moment for a camera muppet like me!) - to my mind it was a Nauticat (or similar - ketch with roller main I think) with a grey Zodiac dingy... he came shore alone...in his fifties I'de give him!!
When I saw the phtoto I thought...this is how I'd like my boat to look!!
If you have any idea who this chap is I would love to know so I can send the photo.
If you haven't been... it's great location by foot or water! I cannot recommend it enough!
