Same as on here. There is a reply box below the message and even a reply button.
If you click on the sent tab on the the left a message you have just sent will be at the top of the list.

I think the PM system is non-intuitive, and not quite the same as the forum. The Reply button actually sends the (possibly blank) message, rather then opening the reply box.

As LS says there is Quick reply box below the message.

It contains all of the received message...... I usually delete that, edit it to just a few lines or reduce it to size1 before typing my reply

If you want to save a copy of the reply that option has to be already enabled in your settings.

You know if you have replied to a message because the icon in the index changes to

IMHO the best idea would be to make it something that could be selected or not for each idividual reply.

I want to keep some replies but by no means all of them. As it is at present iIhave the option to keep replies turned on , but then have to manually delete the ones I dont want to keep which would otherwise be unnecessarily filling the folder
