A superb itinerary and hopefully you will have the wonderful time many others have had with this trip.

Walking along the north side of Alderney I watched a yacht struggle in The Swinge, it looked horrible. I usually take the right turn out of Braye and opt for The Alderney Race into SPP, an area of water that can be horrible too. But either route, timed correctly will be fine, and that is not hard to get the timing right, I think will be lovely.

Alderney is well worth a good explore, around the Island, the town and Braye itself. I fell in love with the place, in part because of it's beauty and atmosphere, and partly because of the wonderful friendliness of the locals.

SPP, one of the best places to get stuck into seafood and a nice cold burgundy IMO.

I've not been to the Channel Islands by boat before and looking at 17-22nd August (all dependent on availability of dog boarding!).
I would tend to correct that to ….. I've not been to the Channel Islands by boat before and looking at 17-22nd August (all dependent on THE WEATHER!)

Fixed narrow dates and fixed destination tend to be a bad combination in my view, leading to long painful legs bashing against the weather rather than going where the weather suits at the time. But just a personal view. Hope you get there as lovely islands.

Alderney was also the first island we visited, though we arrived from Cherbourg. There is something magical about visiting any island and Alderney is a great example. You can walk round the island but it’s easier on bikes, which can be hired from near Braye if you don’t have folders. It is also worth getting a good map of the island even though it is hard to get lost. Bikes are useful, and hireable, in Guernsey, though there is a useful bus service.
