The new owner of our S31 has reported that he is getting hot water but not cold from the galley sink mixer tap, I thought mixer taps were fairly indestructible and I suspect the Jabsco cartridge filter that is underneath it. It is conceivable that this problem has existed unnoticed for some time perhaps since the last cartridge change, as we drink bottled water and use the tap water for making tea or coffeee, washing up etc. so the absence of cool stuff might be easily missed. Is there a diaphgram or anything that I might have omitted to take out of the cartridge when changing it?
Or am I wrong and the mixer tap is faulty, it looks and moves okay and there are no water leaks, I have never known one go unisex before.

Tap itself could be stuck...turn on and tap(hit) the body with something dense like a spanner..

When lever is in the cold position does tap stop running, or still run warm / hot. If no water at all likely to be blocked filter or isolation on filter inlet.

If there is plenty of water in the tank then yes it could be the jumper is stuck in the body especially if not used for a while.

While I have always supported the idea of solving problems with a good thump, my understanding is that if the cartridge in the tap was stuck it would not give either hot or cold water? The tap control lever turns and raises normally but when rotated toward the cold side no water come out, short of a complete blockage in the water path inside the tap (unlikely?) I suspect the problem is a blockage elswhere in the cold water feed. I have suggested removing the filter cartridge then briefly turning on the pump to see if water is reaching it.

Replies here sound confused, the sticking jumper type of tap is old style with rubber washers, turning 3 or 4 full revolution type ie , separate hot and cold grips.
The more modern type is a lift and twist left / right or front / back . This is usually ceramic disc , so belting this type won't work .
The latter very rarely block by sticking, usual problem with this type is a scratched ceramic causing dripping.
If you've got the latter it most likely the filter 9r filter isolation.

Single lever monoblock taps rarely block up. Look for isolation valves that have been turned off. There are often soft copper pipes on the bottom of the tap, have then been bent or crushed?

??????? The hot water does not go through the cartridge, a mixer tap has two tails, the water meets in the mixer though it does start out from the same tank, that is why the tap is giving hot water but not cold. If I can work out a way to by-pass the filter without major modification that should allow the tap to be tested.

It would only take a few seconds to take the inlet off the filter to see if water is reaching there. When I fitted a filter I kept the pipe’s length so that the filter could be by-passed if required.

My thoughts too. Check the simple bits first and see if cold water is getting to the filter. Is the cold working in the heads sink, same system?

It was when I sold the boat, there is only one pump. The new owner may not be as hands on as I am but I have already suggested removing the cartridge and briefly switching the pump on. I was hoping someone might have had a similar problem but I am comforted (and baffled) by its rarity.
The boat is now 2 hours away in Largs, if I have to go down I will want to fix it, the nearly new heater won't go for them either but I am fairly sure of what the problem is there.

My Par fresh water pump had a split in the edge of the diaphragm, when I replaced the diaphragm I took the opportunity to check the rest of the system, I found a course mesh filter on the pump inlet that needed cleaning.
Re my hot water - filter thought, it was just that. Is it a yes or a no no?
Does anyone know?
