looking at making a trip from lake geneva through to marseille on the meditereanean, how deep are these canals? what is the max draught I could have?

Any other details ,websites , routes, etc would be helpful.

Usually quoted as 1.5 mtrs, but leave a bit for safety so 1.4. But most of what you're pla\anning will be the Rhone which might be different from the canals, with big seasonal waterlevel differences

We spent 9 months in France, going thro the canals.
Not from Geneva, but from Honfleur>Paris>Dijon>Lyon>Avignon

Lots of details, pics, reports on places etc on our website www.greyfox.ukhq.co.uk/index_grehan.htm

We saw folk with 1.8m draught notices on their boats - don´t know how they managed it, but presumably they did. Comfortable working maximum 1.5m in our view. Depends on the canal/river.

We´re now down in southern Spain, but have very fond memories of the inland waterways - will probably return for some more in the not too distant . .
