I need to replace the battery in a Plastimo 3" clock - unfortunately I don't have the dead one as a comparison. Can't find anything on the plastimo site

It's part no 27079 which seems to be discontinued (except at Piplers)

Any ideas?
Cheers :)

I think you will find dimensions of batteries are given in Maplin's catalogue.

Maybe you find want you want by scouring Maplin's website

Little Rascal..

VicS appears to be assuming that you went home with the clock and no battery..

I was assuming that you went home neither with the clock nor the battery.. but that you want to take a replacement battery for the next time you are on board.

:)

Does it not just take an AA battery, like every other clock with a standard black plastic quartz movement inside it? I can't imagine Plastimo shelled out for anything special.

I was assuming it was not something so easily recognised as an AA ! Hence the need to ask for advice.

I have a Plastimo clock and it certainly doesn't have an AA battery but a much smaller one. I can't tell you offhand the reference no. as the boat's on her mooring but it's a beef of mine that the battery isn't an AA as I tried to standardise on them for torches, hand held GPS etc.

I have a Weems and Plath clock, it took a 1/2 AA battery. They are very expensive, don't last long and difficult to obtain.

Simple solution, remove the clock mechanism, throw it in the skip and replace it with the mechanism from an Asda clock which takes a standard AA cell. Total cost, less than 5 GBP, accuracy no different to the original.

I have one of those clocks, cant remember the battery designation and I am not on the boat, but you will find it at Halfords. Its either an LR1 or an A23; at £4.99 a pair (you cant buy them singly!) so you need to know which!

LR1 from Maplin at £3.79 a pair http://www.maplin.co.uk/n-lr1-e90-alkaline-battery-2-pack-400037

A23 are12 volt ones.
????The same as the 23A in my earlier link at £2.79 each

+1 for the LR1. Also known as E90, AM5, MN9100, 4001 if the Energiser package is anything to go by. I have (had) a Plastimo 3" clock with a barometer, each in a brass mount. The clock battery contacts were in a poor state, and I ruined it trying to mount a battery externally. I then found a very cheap replacement clock movement on t'interweb which fitted perfectly, and took the same battery.
