Any one have a worse case scenario for a wooden boat where the planks have opened up after standing for years and what other problems there might be please

Shrinkage bad enough to have strained fastenings, necessitating re-fastening all round after the planks have taken up again (i.e. sink her for a week, then haul out to refasten everything)

Too much caulking so the planks can not go back so straining the (new) fastenings - so it needs doing right through a second time!

Well you did ask for a worst case scenario.....!

Seen it happen.

Boat left ashore, recaulked over-zealously, put back in and planks "cupped" - required replanking belo w/l
