I have to admit that we tended to avoid Brunsbuttel, preferring to hop from Cuxhaven to Rendsberg, but I have a kind of fond memory of the times we ended up there. Sometimes we were able to grab a bows-to mooring at the end and avoid being rafted, but generally there is a good community atmosphere among the boats, who often need to assist each other in the confined space. I did hear that it was going to be developed, but I haven't been that way for maybe eight years. The facilities were certainly quaint and of a municipal nature but after a couple of days at sea getting there from home I was always grateful for anything, though a crew member was a bit put out by the need to share a shower cubicle.Brunsbuttel - excellent place for a good kip if you're knackered before/after the Kiel Canal, but truly horrible sanitary facilities and the locale has probably never ever appeared on a tourist itinerary..
