Pipedream's progress in the Jester Challenge

Re: Pipedream\'s progress in the Jester Challenge

I suspect it was the SW wind though. Whilst the Centaur will no doubt sail upwind like a witch (not), even Alan can't sail straight into it!

His progress is making enthralling daily viewing (thanks to Morgana etc.), and I imagine there are lots of others like me, and D3B, who are really enjoying checking it daily, and I who are are suspect mightily pleased and relieved to see another pin in the chart in the right place.

No doubt a few of us are secretly just a little jealous that he's had the courage, confidence, and commitment to do what we can only talk / dream about. Did I say that....? One day I'm going to............

Re: Pipedream\'s progress in the Jester Challenge

Thanks for that - very interesting. I see what you mean. It looks like one of the frontrunners, mentioning no names, has a very unreliable compass or a good wine cellar. He may of course have worked out a course to steer in Plymouth, set the windvane up, and left it to get on with the job.

I dread to think what their groundtracks would look like if they had a prolonged period of headwinds.

I was disappointed nothing happened when I put the cursor over "Skinny Dipper" though.

Re: Pipedream\'s progress in the Jester Challenge

Many thanks regarding "Goosewing" Roger, makes sense now - also for passing info to Ocenracetrack (I wondered how Pipedreams position was on there since he didn't have a tracker). Calica (George's boat) had a strange route a few times though (at one point looking as if he was heading near Cork, S.Ireland) - presumed it was just a computer glitch, possibly as I'm on a Mac rather than PC.

Bill, not surprised about his BBQ skills, his Cheese on toast as a bairn left a lot to be desired also.

Regards - Gary

Bonjour Eric

I am the person who emails you with Pipedream's position. Do you want me to email or will you get the information from here?

Well done with the racetrack - it is a pity that more boats do not give their positions.

Roger

Re: Pipedream\'s progress in the Jester Challenge

Extra report today (below) - hope the weather stays in his favour. - Gary

ALL BEING WELL DUE TO REACH TERCERIA 13TH PM OR 14TH AM.

Re: Pipedream\'s progress in the Jester Challenge

He's aiming for the right hand side of the roundish blob! If I had a decent 'puter I'd do a googlemap thingy but as I haven't I'll leave Neil to be the smart**** /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif informative one on that front.

Re: Pipedream\'s progress in the Jester Challenge

Noticed the below post on Ocean Race Track, Alan knows & has a spare with him, I've left message on Georges blog but don't know how close they may be to each other - Gary.

Culica self stearing gear is out of order. As the wind is from the rear it is a difficult situation and Georges must probably steer a lot.

Re: Pipedream\'s progress in the Jester Challenge

Also left a message on Alan's sat phone with Georges latest position (from Ocean Race Track) - hope I did the right thing - Gary

(Don't like this job anymore!)

Re: Pipedream\'s progress in the Jester Challenge

It's a shame there are only a few boats on the Oceantrack site. Still, looks like Alan has over taken a few in the last day or so.

What do you reckon he'll do on arrival first...Beer or shower?

Re: Pipedream\'s progress in the Jester Challenge

Knowing Alan he will probably shower in the beer!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif!
