Pictures from past forum meets

I think the taller chap in the first picture (blondish scruffy bloke side on) is Rob Peake.

Picture 4, back right with glasses.....Kim Hollamby maybe?

Could be wrong though!

Smoking indoors.........I remember it well :)

Somewhere in the dark recesses of my computer there are some photos from waaaay back.... of the meet at the Chinese in Wardour street post LIBS and of the follow on at tcm's flat.
I remember PauleneB, PeteM and jimi being there but my memory becomes a little hazy.
Will try to find them

I think Flower Power was at one of those with Mrs Flower Power pregnant, its problably a teenage by now.

Somewhere there is a pic of TCM extreme ironing on a bathing platform mid English channel.

If you can remember, you may not have been there?

Yes I think that is Kim. I'm delighted to say he is well and just as committed to boating as he has ever been. Was lucky enough to catch up with him recently and reminisce over in The 90s and early naughties. Frankly memory distorts as I was never that bad!

One thing I've noticed since starting this thread is how few photos I've got.
After Searush and Kwackers made the journey to Swanwick, a few of us thought it would be a good idea to return the favour and visit them in Caernarfon. For some reason these are the only pictures I've got, unfortunately none of the rib ride on the Menai Strait courtesy of Kawasaki, none of the meal we had in in the sailing club situated in the Town Wall and none of the all you can eat breakfast over looking the marina where Danb kept his boat.

Here's some from a Cherbourg Scuttlebutt meet, an annual event organised through the forum normally around September. Though primarily a sailing boat event, motorboats are invited and have joined in for past events.
The first picture is Ladyinbed about an hour or 2 outside of Cherbourg, then we have my old boat and one of the pontoon gathering and finally Sailfree on the return leg to Poole.

I was at parties in tcm's flat on a few occasions as was the sadly departed Haydn (hlb) and jfm amongst others. I'm not sure I want the grisly evidence out there thanks:eek:

Who is the good looking guy with sunglasses on in the rowing boat

I remember you coming back from that looking rather pale and shaken :D Not the best way to cure a hangover. :encouragement:

“Bump” has turned into a stroppy 15 year old.

out of curiosity, have you met or heard of many 15yo (especially girls!) not being stroppy?
:p
If she's not at 15 she'll be at 16 or she was at 14, simple :D
Mine is a 2002 model and she's turning worse day by day (but particularly to her mum...)

The main problem with kids is that they are exactly like you.

Have you any friends who are exactly like you...No...

Because you would find them very irritating.

It’s why we all say in later life ... Don’t I sound like my Dad / Mum.

Getting back to the thread...

I took both the pictures on Elessars boat....
I was helping Kawasaki with certification on his rib when the gig pictures were being taken.
I also attended the Conwy event and had a brilliant run out the following day with Seastoke.

Cheers to all who organize these great events, and I hope to attend more in the future.

I am not very photogenic so will try to avoid the publicity.

But love a good beer and natter.

Can you airbrush Kawasaki out ,then go ahead,or put a scare warning out

I must admit on the day I seriously hogged the helm of Roy's cracking rib, apoligise all who sailed in her
I must say , Rushie and I really enjoyed the hospitality the sufern gits showed us
We were both amazed that the language barrier was not too much of a hurdle either
It was a joy to meet some later in North Wales despite the weather
In 'The Olden Days' when HLB and others met it was before my time on here
However as I met HLB later, he would towards the end of His tenure on this Place, Planet Forum
Relate Stories about Forum meets, Forumites and TLC etc etc, whilst we enjoyed each others company over a measure or two in his gaff in deepest Lancashire
He was boatless by then and in ill repair physically
The memories were bright though
A giggle or two as he related tales and memories of said Meets, if I remember correctly during our joint alcifrolic discussions!
Forum Meets can be rather Special
They have been for me anyway
It has been Wonderful to meet others
Look what I have to put up with Locally
Seastoke and BruceK
It's hard Folks
I need a Medal or summatt!!
:D

You need a medal? Who bashes my pontoon with raw fodder entering the boating machine when I'm trying to have some peace and quiet? Who raids my tea and biccie stash dragging his crew of recruits with? Who tried to use my boat as a crash stop at 20 knts on the Menai? Which insomniac phones up well past the pumpkin hour for an impromptu chat to put the world to rights? Who keeps trying to nick my boat for some or other grand plan adventure? You need a medal? You're a menace. A loveable rogue an a go to guy but a bloody menace all the same. :D

I sincerely hope the chicken is cooking NOW, else you're in deep trouble mate!

Once plucked and cooked the Foul was duly eaten
Accompanied by roasted spuds and mash duly beaten
The carrots came to play as well
The sprouts were left aside
No Pics to add to this daft Post
