In common with many others I have been using Photobucket to host photos, posting them here on a relatively frequent basis. It now seems that Photobucket refer to this as 'third party hosting' for which they wish me to upgrade to a different service so they can charge me an exorbitant €388 per year. Having used their services for free for many years I am certainly not going to start paying now.

Has anyone else come across this? I would welcome suggestions as to a reasonable alternative host.

For starters.

Personally I am using Tinypic for the time being ... but is another Photobucket site :(

Generally I believe it is quite a major issue as many commercial users now find they have to move up to the most expensive option

I had the same issues. first photobucket would not allow me to acces my own pics as I did have adblocker and had to disable adblocker for their site to gain access.

Once I had dome this the adds slowed the site down too much so started to look around.

As far as "third party hosting" I have found that trying to use the links on the side of the photobucket frame did not work but using right click and copying the image link did work as so allows me to post pics on to this site from photobucket.

There was someone who suggested a way was to set you your own hosting or or one of the forum members could do this for registered members or we could approach a hosting site as a group.

My current health treatment regime gives me limited time on the forums. I apologise for asking something that has been asked before.

I don't seem to have this problem, unless it's only other viewers of my images who see it. Or does it only kick in when you're using a large amount of storage?

No image ... just the message requesting you to up grade

I don't know what that means.

Do you mean you don't see my image? If so, what are you supposed to upgrade? Or how would I know I was supposed to upgrade? because Photobucket hasn't told me. I see no indication anything has changed, apart from what I read here.

No problem Vyv

Dont know what to say about your health problems......... Good luck I think.

All I see is the upgrade message. When it first affected me I could still see some of my images on another web site until I hit the refresh button. Then the warning message appeared.

On your own images or on others such as mine, as above. Am I asking the wrong question? I can't think of any other way to ask. I don't see the issue with my own pictures.

I cannot see your image, only a Photobucket nag screen.

I would put in a screenshot of what I see except that I haven't yet got round to finding an alternative to Photobucket for my own forum pics :p

(I don't object to paying a small fee for decent service for this kind of thing, but I certainly won't be paying slow, ad-ridden, grasping Photobucket)

I use or rather used the photobucket app on my iPad.
Am now trying https://postimg.org/files.php

Does this work?
The preview works ok :)
Just to add that there were never any adverts on Photobucket and I don't see any on this new site.
I use Lionz ad blocker on the iPad.

All your images here just show the warning message. Strange that you can't see it. Although all my linked pictures on various web sites also show the message, they are unchanged on the Photobucket site (except that I have now closed my accounts).

Vyv, whilst I realise now is probably not the best time for you to be trying to fathom the internet, from previous posts I seem to recall your are having to change your host for your site. You can quite easily put your photos into a folder in your new site. You can then link to those photos and of course you are in complete control. It's a little more cumbersome but quite functional.
