I have persuaded swmbo that in addition to the money we have donated to the tsunami appeal we should charter a boat from Phuket to help the economy! I have chosen the marina on the NE coast facing into the Phnang Nga bay, this area is undamaged but suffering from a lack of tourists. Has anyone any experience of sailing this area, all I've read so far has been very favourable.

It's a great place to sail. Fantastic scenery and friendly people.
Take time to buy from the local fishermen offering fresh fish from their longtail boats - excellent quality and good prices and dead easy to cook on the BBQ on the back of the boat.
The bay itself is fairly shallow and you might want to consider chartering a catermaran for extra ease of navigation.

You'll get a full briefing when you pick up your boat, but make sure you visit the Muslim Floating Village at the north end of the bay for an experince you'll not forget!

You might consider buying a pilot guide before you go to help yo plan and to get an idea of what's awaiting you.
