Phantom 43 or princess 42??

Good reply mike, it's how it should be.
Out of interest I've spoke to a few more brokers who have come back today with some interesting stock and brokerage boats at keen prices.
FWIW, I think a £150k offer on a £199k boat is a fair offer. As a seller, of course I would be hoping to push you up a bit but I certainly wouldn't dismiss the offer as insulting and I would treat the offer as a basis for further discussions. If the seller of this boat (not sure what volvoengineer has to do with it) has thrown his toys out of the pram, then probably time to look elsewhere

Hi VP
sorry to see some less than helpful posts on this thread. Getting back to the subject have you seen any possible future boats yet? Any closer to narrowing down the choices?
(PS theres no shame in owning a sealine.....flexible flybridge seating and tables, BBQ in the extending cockpit handy for the galley and less rolling about whilst reducing mooring fees)

Back to the original topic although I don't have much to add to what has already been said. It's a very tough call between the two. As you know, i was buying last year. The prin 42 was my favorite due to eg. more modern interior and better perceived quality, but as my situation changed when I was buying (my brother pulled out) I decided to go for the 43 for budgetary reasons.

IMHO, the 43 excels on the outside while the 42 looks more modern inside. The 43 is a great boat and I think the tamd75's are a perfect match (of course i've never had the pleasure of trying out one with d6's...)

While I'm very happy with my boat I still sometimes find myself hankering after the p42, but probably not enough to justify the extra price...

Anyway, good luck with the search, great boats to choose from :)

It was your boat kivi that' set us off wanting a phantom43, and hopefully will be there soon.

Thanks for your input , glad to hear your still enjoying yours.

Power of the forum , 6250 views !! Hmmm we must have too much time on our hands.

Not at all VP! but a very interesting thread, watching the valuable inputs and the other sideshow that has been going on!
I for one look forward to seeing which craft you decide to go for? and who is going to come out of this the better (boat equipped) person in the long run!
I suspect there just maybe an air of the green eyed monster here with a particular forumite!
Wish I was in your position, because bargaining is what its all about, and if you don't have the gonads to ask, you aint gonna get!
Good luck to you........

Hi , as I'm taking a well deserved break I've had chance to read a few old posts as ive been looking at boats for sale , as an update the phantom 43 I bought in Feb 2014 at 25% less than the asking price , I sold in June this year with the hope to buy a Targa 47. I did hope to buy abroad at a favourable rate but Brexit soon put paid to that so at the moment I'm open to deals available. What's spurred me to rekindle this post is advise to sellers is to negotiate nicely and keep buyers on your side, keep them interested and be nice.

Remember the bashing I got over the offer I made on the Phantom 43 way back ? Well I noticed last week the same boat is still for sale way above the figure I paid in 2013. Just shows how realistic the market is.

Paul, was the "25% less" boat that you bought already keenly priced?

Pete

I'd say no but fairly priced in that it was priced where the same year others were and priced for its year.
Sold to a forum member with a very happy ending for me in the fact I hope to look after its green lumps for the foreseeable future.

It's funny how things turn out because I had a budget for a boat but one didn't come along ,in the meantime another longtime itch came to head ( rally car 50k) so the Princess 42 was out of reach which in turn decided the Phantom purchase.

In the past few weeks I've looked at Princess 42s which still seem to hold there values on a percentage scale more or less bang on where they were 3 years ago, which shows not much changes.

After some recent spend investment it's likely to be next year before I hit the water again .

Paul, I knew you'd be thinking of boats whilst you were in Majorca - I bet you've been walking around a Marina or two as well haven't you?? Hurry up and get another boat man and put your self out of this misery...you know you want to!!
