Ordered two new fuel filters. I was expecting Delphi 296 filters which I understand can be used with either petrol or diesel.

What has arrived are two Delphi 7111 296 filters which look the same but the box states diesel filter. This has spooked me and I can't get a clear answer if they are OK for petrol. I think they should be but I dont want a future problem.
Anyone know the definitive answer?

I can only offer some internet search results, but several 'hits' from several angles suggest 'it is widely used on both petrol and diesel' marine engines providing the additives of ethanol etc do not exceed 10%

Someone is bound to correct me but, although the standard CAV296 is suitable for petrol you need to check the flow rate with your engine. I was advised to use the HDF296 but not sure of the differences?
Probably Flow rate .. 150 litres/ hour compared with 50 litres/hour.

Yes in parallel. We don't have much to go on, so I was kinda wondering if this is 2 filters for 1 engine or 2 filters for an engine each.

From a previous thread by the OP it sounds like it's one per engine:
