Perspex protection

I have had some 6mm perspex in the garage for some time, now I want to use it I am finding it very difficult to remove the clear protective film. It has gone very brittle. Does anyone know of a trick to remove this film without damaging the perspex. It would be a shame to have to buy more when I have a shed full of the stuff!

Try a hairdrier, it may just restore some of the plasticity.

Hair dryer to soften it up and slow careful finger peeling. ANY instrument will leave gouges in the surface! A soft plastic scraper is the most you can use, perhaps!

This coating doubles as a lubricant for cutting tools and protects it from the sole of the jig-saw. So best to cut it to shape before removing the coating.
