Pershing

Without Iirc they are in ASD boat as well ,Magnum or Baia ?
PF, I don't know what engine version shows your pic, but not the LE403 which was being debated, anyhow.
It might be the previous LE401 (680hp), but I'm not sure.
Different animal anyhow, because the differences don't end with the pneumatic valve for sea water.

In the pic below, which definitely shows a LE403 engine, I highlighted in orange that valve.
Now, also assuming that it can be removed and replaced with a plain tube, as in your pic, there are other relevant differences:
Firstly, the yellow part shows the connection to the closed cooling circuit (completely missing in your pic), with a different side cover of the HE.
But most importantly, the whole aftercooler in you pic is bound to be different, i.e. NOT split into two section (raw water+cooling liquid), and all cooled by sea water instead.

All well and good, mind. But that sounds like a helluva Heath Robinson modification.
In fact, to my knowledge, the recommended MAN solution for bypassing the LE403 valve (i.e. leave it permanently open) was to remove only the small tube connected to the aftercooler for opening the valve when the air intake is pressurized, replace it (on the valve side) with a screw just long enough to keep the valve fully open, and close the opening on the CAC side with another short screw,
A solution which, aside from being much simpler, allows to keep the intercooler split in two sections, which still has its raison d'être also when sea water flow is not restricted anymore, for a faster engine warm-up.

My advice would be leave as is OEM .
Just chimed in to identify the part in question.

Theres some pretty decent MAN guys in the SOF .
Not sure who's been looking after them ? Invoices hopefully will show a trail .

pick of the crop imho either
Y.E.S or R.T.S .
Theres a lot of MAN powered boats about .

Very much doubt they will give any trouble for Chris if they have had fresh oil changes and not been overloaded chronically.
Still waiting now , been 5 seasons for an issue to crop up .....anything ......feel a bit left out on this forum regarding engine / drive woes since i ditched the VP kad Outdrive S/ Sker .:)

Looking Fwds to hearing about Chris s first few outings .....exciting times indeed .

We’ve had quotes for the fluid leaks from Sud marine and YES, YES almost 1000 Euro cheaper, although the surveyer has said he would wait until an engine service is needed as the leaks are very slight, I’ll take a look next time we are down and maybe have ago myself !

Just completed our first week onboard whilst also doing our day skipper course, bedrooms a bit tight for space when living below but hopefully this won’t be a problem in the summer, managed to get about 3 hours use in glorious weather, can’t wait for summer, back down at Easter and also carrying out a few upgrades, new TV/sound system and looking at how to heat the water, we’ve only got a 10litre boiler.

Chris,
We will be in Beaulieu over Easter and actually just returned from 10 days in Beaulieu on Saturday. If you ever want any help or tips let me know and I will help where I can. We have been in Beaulieu for 7 years now with boats.

We probably past a few times, we did our day skipper with Charlie from Ocean pro in Beaulieu.

We would have. If you saw anyone walking with a Westie then that was us. Our boat is past OceanPro and around the corner as you head up towards the fuel point. We too stayed on our boat for the 10 days whilst we hosted the guests staying in our apartment and then did the annual weeks worth of small jobs that always build up.

Update ;

we had our first 10 days on board, first 5 days was mainly sorting things out and fitting a new outside grill and then installing a new washing machine, grey water tank float switch packed in And filled the bilge with water, so I spent the best part of a day finding the problem and replacing the switch.

They don't mention this in the boat brochures but it's always worth having spare float switches on board. They're pretty much consumable items and they're a lot cheaper to buy at home than in a swindlers in Cap Ferrat.

Never felt as chilled on holiday, what a great way to relax, I had an afternoon under the boat and replaced the anodes, cleaned the props etc, very therapeutic, even our daughter enjoyed being on the boat, wifey also very pleased !
Only had to fill up once.D04ABF46-3B8B-4117-BC44-68396A1932D3.jpegD04ABF46-3B8B-4117-BC44-68396A1932D3.jpegF15E8167-7254-4242-9189-0C31B4BF02A2.jpegD04ABF46-3B8B-4117-BC44-68396A1932D3.jpegD04ABF46-3B8B-4117-BC44-68396A1932D3.jpegD04ABF46-3B8B-4117-BC44-68396A1932D3.jpeg0B1D9FF6-8137-4C69-94FB-D0C942FE2BD0.jpegF15E8167-7254-4242-9189-0C31B4BF02A2.jpegD04ABF46-3B8B-4117-BC44-68396A1932D3.jpeg0B1D9FF6-8137-4C69-94FB-D0C942FE2BD0.jpeg2CCC7541-B73B-4933-BD91-4110D331BA57.jpegA22C296A-5658-4B25-A784-9609C7467CDA.jpeg55C29B79-BC18-4E59-9DFC-019E9BA890D0.jpeg85F8E6E0-8AB0-4E22-A244-374C4E0B8BE9.jpegF15E8167-7254-4242-9189-0C31B4BF02A2.jpegA22C296A-5658-4B25-A784-9609C7467CDA.jpegD04ABF46-3B8B-4117-BC44-68396A1932D3.jpeg

Actually Pete you are wrong. I rewired a float switch from one of the chandlers in the St Jean/Beaulieu area last week and the price was very good and it was on our doorstep versus having to get it delivered. Like everything it varies and the local businesses need as much support as those in the U.K.

Chris, you have slipped well and truly into the SofF boating way. Great times on board and plenty to do ashore. ????????☀️☀️

Re Chris H: fatal mistake
I (we) always worked on the basis of MrsA doesn't ask and I don't tell. It didn't work in my favour :-(

however the boat is stunning -enjoy.

Spend a night near or in one of Cannes marinas ( very near the Lerins ) then take a walk down the Crossette shopping esplanade.
It’s another world .Manakins in shop windows with €20000 ( twenty thousand) trousers or as they say “ pantalons “ .
Plenty of normal cafes and bars to sit and people watch .
Girls + ladies love it .
Learn a bit about shoes fwiw .......actually for 1/2 Oz of give from you to them .....it’s kinda makes up for the big boys toy thing .
