Hello to all,

As the title says, I am looking for info about Pershing 43 Hard Top with MAN 630 HP on shafts. I am situated in Athens, Greece, and I am sailing in the Aegean.

Thank you in advance for any info provided.

I have a pair of the inline 6 s , bit newer 2004 rated at 700 Hp .
Probably the most reliable/ least hassle MAN s , but adding the caveat at this age it’s all down to the SH .
So Assuming they have been reasonably maintained then the motors are good .In the “ there’s no substitute for cubes “ school of thought .12-13 L s each .Swinging big pitched props for east marina manoeuvres.
Cruising at 1700 something rpm .
You need to get over to the outsides of them in the ER , this depends where the tanks are ?

The boats good too we viewed one when we were looking .Wife wanted to move away from the then popular high gloss wood interior .Itama solved that ….amongst other must haves , wish list priorities.
Tanks on the 4,2 M beam Itama are behind the engines as the engines are mid placed , so maintenance access is good .

I sold a dozen of these over the years, including three times the one (only one made) with Volvos T74s 480s.
Build like a brick and very dry boat and takes sea with a pride. Its one of the few boats I went out in our Gregale NE against NW tide and did not bother to slow speed from 22 knots,
Very nice easy all around engine room and nearly full height. Fuel Tank is in-front of the engines easy access. But also other most items are in the engine room.
For its power set up with Man 630s they are unbeatable to other market offers in this size and on other level.
Who says other wise, need to go back to read some fairy tales.
The only thing which is not in the engine room is the air-condition unit located under the salon.
They drink about or just over six litres per nautical miles at cruise, at about 23 knots with Man. Top speed is about 35 knots with Mans.
Thirstier to other British or more commercial competitions from Atlantis47/Cranchi47/Sunseeker44C/46P as an example these all drink like 5.5 lpNM.
A Fairline Targa 43 with T74/75 480s drinks about 4.5 lpNM while the bit bigger Princess V50 with Volvos 12 litres block drink more or less like the P43.
Unlike the Brits gelcoat does not stain, and the blue band was painted originally with Awlgrip. Also its

The only annoying thing is the very slow turn rudder. Some say if you modify the nipples of the stern gear this becomes much more responsive.
Also check the shaft seals, which where those Aussie made fitted to FG group boats between 2001-11 which tend to fail badly and sink or nearly sink you. Sorry I cant remember the name.
There was a post about them here from like 2009.
